R.I.P. Daul Kim

I just put this photo in my "inspiration" folder a few days ago, and found out last night that she committed suicide on Thursday, found by her boyfriend, hanging.

I researched her a bit more, read some of her blog entries, and it's just so sad to see a 20 year old girl, so lonely and lost. So depressed, but surrounded by high fashion and having to be in the spotlight, on the runway and in front of the camera all the time. From what I read and saw through videos of her, I feel that she was too smart, and had too much to give to just be a model. I can feel that she had bigger dreams and aspirations, but she was becoming so successful in the modeling world, that she couldn't just walk away from it. I can't imagine being so depressed that you would really want to end your life. She has written in her blog, that she didn't want to die, that she wasn't depressed, and that she doesn't want to kill herself. But in the end, something must have driven her to it...to end it.

I know it sounds weird, but whenever I hear about suicide stories, I always wished that I could be there for them, no matter who they are. I just know that sometimes, all they need is a friend, someone to be there, to listen and to care. I can be that person. I am that person.

compare and contrast...

If you check out the Japanese side of our Aloha Rag Staff Blog, they all displayed everything they carry in their bags. Their photos, first off, are so professionally done, secondly, each and every one of them carry a very pricey bag, and then inside is nothing less. Everything in each of their bags are colorful, clean and cute. Not to mention designer and expensive. We decided, for fun to do the same with our bags...just to be funny, because we are so much more ghetto than they are. Check out the comparison below...

I am assuming that they planned the photoshoot, and organized their bags accordingly, but this is our REAL display...

halloween, then and now

I had 2 costumes last year. This is from the LifeLongFriendshipSociety's Halloween party. I was a silent movie star. Photo by erngrn.

This is from some random persons loft party, the next night. I was Audrey Hepburn, the asian version. Photo by Sunny Shokrae.

And this was from the wedding that Mac and I went to this Halloween. No one dressed up, we actually weren't supposed to, but neither of us could go a year without dressing up, so we found a way. I sacrificed my cute wedding outfit for a femme suit outfit to allow the easy transition into my costume at the reception. Check us out! We were the life of the party,.."the coolest people in there". So said an adorable southern woman.
