Japan Fashion Week....

I attended the JFW runway show a few nights ago. 13 Japanese designers, about 5 looks each. Some designers are carried here in America, and some not quite yet. JFW brings their designers here to expose themselves to America, and show us what they have to offer. Here at Aloha Rag, we carry one of the 13 designers, Ylang Ylang. We are currently displaying the 5 looks from Ylang Ylang and Somarta in the store. Here are some looks from the show....

tears, tears, tears...

so many tears. look at how many people stood in the freezing cold to support our new President. i watched part of the inauguration through live internet feed at work, and came home and watched nothing but coverage of this amazing, inspiring, emotional day. tears flowed at random times, emotions just came and went, came and went. the Obama's first dance was tear city for me. this is just an amazing day, it is an amazing time in our history and i am so lucky to be here to experience it. in a way i wish i had more family to share this experience with. my family isn't the type to share emotional moments together, but i see all of these parents with their children, crying and sharing this great experience together. I love it. I love that everyone has come together, support each other, and believe in the thought of America again. It has been lost for so long, and now we are back. it's so overwhelming. i absolutely LOVE that i am here, that i exist to experience this day.

free vodka/hypnotiq's and a free show, can't go wrong. i was right up front, all up in her space, it was awesome.

Click Here to see a short video i took of her performance. too many people were being rude and talking so the sounds isn't so great. but ENJOY anyway!

after this show, we went to matsuri for some apps and some drinks. while there marites had me try her boots on because i liked them and they were comfortable, so i did, and then ended up stealing them! hahah i walked out with them and went to club one. she later texted me and we're gonna trade back next week. i was drunk.

everyone but me is broke right now for some reason, so i decided to buy all of the groceries for a friend dinner at kalani and jj's. so i gave jj money to buy chicken, steak, ice cream and cookie dough. James and i went to sunrise to buy rice, cooking sake and tofu, erin brought salad and scallions. and above is what came of it. it was a delicious meal for 6, 2 appetizers, entree and dessert, for around $50! it was amazing! Kalani is chef of the year in my book. yuuummmyyyy!!

Last night Mac and I went to cakeshop to see his cousin's band play. They are all from Minnesota, though his cousin lives in Chicago now. They were really good, i liked it a lot. they were very dancy which is always fun. Both guy and girl singers, which kind of creates a really nice balance. Mac's cousin is the bass player on the right. he's awesome. this is the first time i have seen him anywhere else besides his parents house and his grandmothers house for Christmas. it was cool. He played at Lit like a month or 2 ago, but i missed it because Mac told me about it the night of. anyway, it was really nice to see them play, i have wanted to since last time i missed them. they could make it big, look out for them "One For the Team"!!!

i have heat!!!

Photobucket

But, unfortunately, too much of it. it's like a fricken sauna in there! i had a restless night of sleep because i was so damn hot. i opened 2 of my windows and still too hot. My bed is right next to the radiator, so i think am going to try to con mac into helping me rearrange my room. i need to move my bed to the other side and switch it with my dresser and tv. it's going to be kind of a big project, as it's not a huge room and moving huge pieces of furniture is not going to be easy in there. plus my wrist still isn't up to par, so i won't be able to carry things as easily. i definitely need help, man help. mac isn't the kind of guy who wants to be stuck in my sauna-like apartment moving shit around, but hopefully he has a heart and helps out. if you are wondering what the picture is above, it's of the new humidifier i am going to purchase today, it's an elephant humidifier! so cute right? haha. i need it, now that i have serious heat, my skin, throat and nose are all dried up. it's not comfortable, not at all.

Photobucket

needless to say, i am dead tired today. i went to free dinner at kittichai last night with kalani, jj, ly and nima for kalani to get pictures of us for his job. so they gave us $250 to spend on dinner and took a bunch of pics. it was nice, but i was soooo tired. they went over to nima's but i was so tired i went straight to the train, trains were fucked up. i ended up taking the train to 14th street and then having to take a cab because the L was messed up. i could have just taken a cab from the restaurant, would have been cheaper and faster, but whatever, nothing i can do about it now. i hate track work.

tonight i have 2 options,..do a couple of much needed laundry loads, or completely rearrange my apartment. laundry is easier, but rearranging is so necessary for a good night's sleep. mac said he'd help, but who knows if he'd be down for tonight. ughh LIFE!

Jade and i are going to look at a bunch of apartments with a dude from Best Apartments tomorrow. let's hope we see something promising. we just need a lot of space, but that is definitely hard to find in the city/east village. we are crossing our fingers, we'll see how it goes.

man oh man, i am tired, my eyes are burning like a mo fo. that's all for now....
